Agree to Disagree?

How often does someone say to you, ‘Let’s just agree to disagree’ on important issues? Does it irritate you?

Can we sometimes agree to disagree? Sure. Pineapple belongs on pizza. If you don’t think it does, we’ll agree to disagree. But if you think Black Americans shouldn’t fear for their lives and they’re being unreasonable and White privilege isn’t real and systemic racism is fake news, we can’t agree to disagree.

So … where is the line? Kim and Dan work to find out in this episode of My Amerca.

“Can we do that in today’s world? Can we agree to disagree?” Dan

“Facts don’t care about your feelings.” Kim

“We get caught up in our headlines and our own personal narratives.” Dan

“I’m not going to agree to disagree with you because you’re not having the conversation anymore.” Kim

“Because we have to be able to have disagreements because none of us have all the answers.” Dan

“It’s just frustrating that people dig in so far that they’re not willing to adjust for change.” Kim
